"Comfort in pregnancy and ease in birth."

We often think about birth as the birthing person's job only- dilate and push, right? Well... did you know that you and your baby are a TEAM? Your baby has a job to do and they know it. Throughout your pregnancy and labor, your baby will do their best to rotate and descend in order to pass through the pelvis. Sometimes they have an easy job and sometimes it can feel challenging to both of you! But you can help your "teammate"-- with Spinning Babies®!

What is Spinning Babies®?

Spinning Babies® is an approach for ease and comfort during pregnancy and birth. People find that when their body is balanced and relaxed, their baby is more likely to move into a position that is helpful and comfortable, both during pregnancy and during labor. Spinning Babies® believes that fetal positions are not random, and that babies fit the space available. Yet, thinking of the size of the baby or the pelvis is not enough. Birth anatomy is flexible. Both the uterus and the pelvis have more available room when the muscles and other soft tissues are balanced. Taking a Spinning Babies® Parent Class can help you achieve this balance.

What is a Spinning Babies® Parent Class?

Spinning Babies® Parent Class highlights your baby’s active role to rotate down and out of the pelvis.

Learn techniques to help muscles in your pelvis support an easier birth. During labor, the baby turns through three levels of the pelvis. Together, you and your birth partner can use these techniques before and during labor to help “make room for baby!” Spinning Babies reveals how the baby can find optimal positions for labor and allows birth to be more comfortable.

This class is for expectant parents only. Professionals are invited in the Spinning Babies® Workshop

Customized Childbirth Education class + Spinning Babies® Parent Class

Depending on your needs and situation, I will create a customized childbirth education package for you which will include the Spinning Babies® Parent Class (about 2.5 hours), plus standard childbirth education (usually a minimum of 3.5 hours). We can meet in one session, multiple sessions, or a hybrid of Zoom and in-person. I will create a price for you based upon the course needs and your location. A six-hour class within a 1-hour drive of 15367 is $360, customizable as needed.

But my baby is head-down already-- isn't that good?

Yes, head down is great, but did you know that there are other important aspects to your baby's position, aspects which can greatly influence the length and progress of your labor? Learning the Spinning Babies® way can help make room for baby to achieve the best position possible, and can also give you the knowledge to "troubleshoot" any issues you are having during pregnancy and labor.

I already took a childbirth class... is this the same thing?

No, it is not! Spinning Babies® has a much different focus. We're not going to talk about the stages of labor or other elements of a "regular" childbirth class. Instead, we're going to learn:

- Basic anatomy of the pelvis and what it means for your birth

- Daily Essential exercises to help reduce pregnancy discomforts, and to help your baby move into an optimal position before birth

- How to Rest Smart® and Move Smart® for ease and comfort

- How to achieve balance with Spinning Babies® techniques-- the Jiggle, Forward-Learning Inversion, Side-lying Release, and more

- Situations in which Spinning Babies® techniques could be helpful to your labor

This class will be a great addition to your "toolbox" as you prepare for your birth!

When should I take a Spinning Babies® class?

The ideal time frame is 20-34 weeks; far enough along for you to have a little bit of a "baby bump" for the exercises to be effective, but still with enough time left for the Daily Essentials exercises to help you achieve balance. However, if you're further along than that it can still help you work on balance until that day, and certainly will give you a lot of useful information for your labor, so come anyway!

What is included with my class?

You will receive digital handouts to help you remember everything we learn, as well as a free e-book with all the information in it so you can remind yourself as needed. Online classes also receive the Parent Class video download. Our relationship through this class also means that you can call or email me with questions or problems any time after your class as your practice your "essentials" at home!
